Building Resource Cities in LoU
Beginning Game:
I have found that your first few cities should be diversified resource cities, a good balance of Stone, Wood, Iron, Food and Gold should be able to supply enough resources for research and to supply your surrounding cities. If you are planning to build a Castle city you will need a lot of stone so I recommend weighting the nearest city in more stone than other resources.
A good amount of resources p/h in your first 5 cities at about 10k each (except your castle city, which should have no resources just barracks and recruitment buildings) will be more than enough to get you ahead in the game.
Middle Game:
Once you have developed your game and built castles you may want to consider a Gold City (See Strategy Post Gold City) and have specific resource cities supplying your Castles with Iron. Iron and Gold Resource cities are a good idea as recruiting a vast number of Zerks requires an enormous amount of Iron.
To build Gold and Iron Cities are the only ones that make sense to me at this stage of the game, as having a different cities for food, stone or etc are a pain in the ass to manage and time carting or shipping various resources all over the place!
End Game:
Once your alliance has developed and your alliance has cities with Castles near shrines, you will want the alliance to plan for enlightenment of the shrines. When cities are enlightened they will be able to build a palace, when this happens huge amount wood and stone are required to sustain the upgrading of a palace. It would be a good strategy to plan for enlightenment in the middle game with members of the alliance building specific resource cities near the shrines, namely as many wood and stone cities as the enlightened cities in the alliance will need huge sums of wood and stone of about 10 million of wood and stone!
To Build Specific Resource Cities:
- Use The LoU Tweak Tool and City Planner
- Upgrade City Hall to level 10
- Build about 20 cottages to get CS to 2000
- Build Warehouses for storage
- Place as many specific mines as possible according to the city plan and upgrade to level 10.
