Lord of Ultima Beginners Guide Part Two
....Continued from Lord of Ultima Beginners Guide Part One
Right so here is a quick check list where you should be right now:
1. Part of a strong alliance and forming good relationships in your alliance
2. Using the LOU Tweak Tool
3. Your city now has 80 Buildings
4. Your resources are at least 6k p/h
5. You have researched and purified 40 Wood, Stone, Iron and Food
6. Your Gold is at 500 p/h
7. You have three markets upgraded to at least 250 Carts
8. Your Gold Reserves are at + 100k
You Are Now Almost Ready to Build Your 2nd City!
The site for your new city is crucial as it is going to supply your first city with resources that are needed to advance your title and hence other cities. Title Advancement will become the only way to expand your empire, which are linked to the number of Barons you can recruit.
Purified Resources (each) | Gold (x1000) | Castles | Title | Level | Max. Barons | Max. Cities | Mana Regain per hour | Max Mana |
0 | 0 | - | Sir | - | 0 | 1 | 0 | 3000 |
0 | 0 | - | Knight | - | 0 | 1 | 250 | 15000 |
0 | 0 | - | Baron | - | 0 | 1 | 300 | 20000 |
50 | 40 | - | Earl | 1 | 1 | 2 | 400 | 30000 |
400 | 320 | - | - | 2 | 2 | 3 | 400 | 30000 |
700 | 560 | 1 | Marquess* | 1 | 3 | 4 | 500 | 40000 |
As you can see from the above table you have progressed from Sir to Baron by simply upgrading your Town Hall. Now you will gain the Title Earl after you have 40k Gold and 40K purified of each resource.
You will now be able to recruit a Baron.
Baron | Blessed | Infantry Attack | Whilst sieging an enemy city, a Baron must be present for the Claim of Power to progress and to successfully conquer the city. They are also vital when founding a new city. | 50,000 iron 100,000 gold | Trinsic Temple Level 10 & Title |
A Baron Costs:
100k Gold and 50k Iron
A new city requires the following resources:
1 Baron
100k Wood
100k Stone
25k Iron
25k Food
250 Carts
So, I hope by now you are seeing for your self the value of resources in Lord of Ultima and why I suggested in the beginning to get your resource levels to around 6k p/h because the more resources you have the faster you can expand!
Back to Placing Your 2nd City
I suggest you don't worry at this stage about placing your new city next to a shrine, unless of course you a fortunate enough to have your first city placed near a shrine. We will cover more about shrines in other posts.
At this stage you want to place your 2nd city right next to your first, the shortest possible distance.
The reason is simple your cities will need to support each other by sending resources to be purified and in the case of attack been able to send units to cities quickly. This makes you a more powerful player than the ones who spread the cities all over the place. Hopefully some of your neighbors right now are also your friends? That way they can also support you don't be afraid to ask for help with resources and other things you need, the goal of your alliance is to get every one in the alliance strong in a shortest amount of time. Pass on gifts and they will be passed back to you be friendly and you will be surprised at the results of relationships in the game.
Once you have recruited your Baron and have the resources mentioned above you are ready to deploy your first city. Click on the desired location and press build city, once you have done a flag will pop up at the location it will take a while for your city to appear so do not panic!
Do Not Be Tempted to Build a Castle at This Stage!
